The Canadian Hairless Terrier Association Articles and Bylaws
are maintained by the Directors and Officers of the CHTA
1.
Name
The name of the Association shall be "CANADIAN HAIRLESS
TERRIER ASSOCIATION".
2. Objects
The Association shall have for its objects the development,
registration and promotion of the
of American Hairless Terriers in Canada. This registration shall
extend to American Rat Terriers used as outcross animals for
the further development of the American Hairless Terrier breed.
It is believed that the American Hairless Terrier breed can
make an important contribution to the selection of purebred
companion dogs available in Canada. The terms "American
Hairless Terrier" or "American Terrier", or AHT
or AT, Hairless Rat Terrier, or Rat Terrier, Hairless Variety
wherever used herein, refer to registered American Hairless
Terriers, of both the coated and hairless variety. To facilitate
the achievement the Association shall:
(a) be a non-profit organization of persons, firms, partnerships,
and corporations engaged in co-operative to further the improvement
of the American Hairless Terrier breed throughout Canada;
(b) keep a record of the pedigrees and carry out a system of
registration;
(d) promote the American Hairless Terrier breed of dog in Canada.
(e) keep a record of the breeding and origin of all Hairless
and Coated American Hairless Terriers and American Rat Terriers
used for outcross breeding purposes, collect, preserve and publish
data and documents relating to same;
(f)) maintain standards of breeding and origin of importance
to dog genetics
(g) adopt means from time to time to protect and assist breeders
engaged in propagation and breeding of Hairless and Coated American
Hairless Terriers in compliance with the Animal Pedigree Act
or any regulation made thereunder;
(h) maintain efficient supervision of breeders of Hairless and
Coated American Hairless Terriers to detect, prevent and punish
fraud;
e) compile statistics of the industry and furnish official and
authentic information thereto;
f) in order to implement and achieve the foregoing, to make
all necessary contracts and agreements and to make, alter and
repeal regulations subject to the provisions of the By-Laws;
g) the CANADIAN HAIRLESS TERRIER ASSOCIATION will encourage
and endeavor to facilitate the importation of genetically sound
and purebred American Hairless Terrier dogs and American Rat
Terrier dogs into Canada for the purpose of increasing available
genotypes in the Canadian breeding pool.
